tour de cure

n161501727_31375712_7333On June 13th, my dad and I are doing the Cure de Tour- a 50 mile ride to raise money for the American Diabetes Association. Below is the text from my fundraising site. But instead of reading it here, you can just go to the site and help me reach my goal of raising $250 for diabetes research. If you know me well, you might be thinking, “Wait a minute. Don’t you do diabetes research? Is this money funding your salary?” The answer: kinda! No, seriously. My lab’s research is partially funded by the ADA, and that includes the people to do the research. But really, I am doing this because I like to ride and want to raise money for a good cause.

Please check out my fundraising site, and if you can, sponsor me. Anything from $5 to $500 is appreciated:) The site is really easy to use and you can use your credit card to make  your donation.

My dad and I are doing this ride together and I’m really excited about it. We have a lot of personal reasons for riding: We both work in the field of diabetes research, my grandfather and uncle on my dad’s side both have diabetes, and my dad and I love to ride!

He develops insulin at Eli Lilly and I do diabetes research at IU School of Medicine. I can tell you from personal experience that there is a lot of great research going on in this field. New insights are being gained all the time. The research in my lab is even sponsored, in part, by a grant from the ADA!

The minimum fundraising goal for the ride is $150, but I’ve set my goal at $250 and would love to exceed that! I’m especially counting on my blog friends:)

These are not per mile, but one time donations. (“The Office” anyone? Remember when Michael sponsored Oscar for $25 and then found out it was per mile?!)

Thanks for your help!

  • Jenna – I was thinking about donating $4 or $507 until I read that it wouldn’t be appreciated. Nice office reference as well. Seriously though, good luck with your fund raising it seems like a very cool ride.

  • Jenna, Ruby doesn’t have any quilts, so I’m sure that anything you make for her will be unlike anything she’s ever seen before in her life! ;) Thanks. I’m so excited to see it.
    You getting ready to move?

  • Gosh, its been so long since I’ve read your blog. I tired to catch up a little today- I really enjoyed your latest posts. Life is good, huh? Great pictures. Tell Johnny he is the man.
